The Board of Directors of Langley Meals on Wheels Services Society provides governance, strategic direction, and financial oversight to ensure our organization continues to nourish, connect, and support our community.

Our board members bring diverse professional backgrounds and lived experience in leadership, finance, governance, health, community service, and social impact. Together, they guide long-term priorities while safeguarding the mission and sustainability of the organization.

The Langley Meals on Wheels Services Society governs the overall execution of the organization’s mission.

Principally, the Board manages organizational finances and sets long term priorities for programs, including the development of: strategic plan, and fundraising yearly goals.

Additionally, the Board oversees the Executive Director, who is responsible for day-to-day management of the organization. Overall, the members of the Board contribute the educational, management, legal, and financial skills needed to ensure long term organizational stability and ensure year-to-year mission.

The Board of Directors cannot exceed 9 years.

Board Member responsibilities include attendance regular board meetings (average 12 per year), and active conversations as part of meetings and Board committees.

Time and Financial Considerations

Meetings:

· Board Meetings- Monthly

· Committee Work- by zoom as needed

· Annual Meeting

· Annual Fundraiser- board participation needed/required

Donations:

As with any Board, members will be solicited for a cash or in-kind donation; 100% participation is sought; the amount is optional, but we ask that board members consider giving at a leadership level.

Declaration of Candidacy

Board positions require a time and energy commitment that should not be underestimated.

Candidates are urged to consider personal priorities for the next year as well as the ways to contribute to the development of the organization.

Our board is currently fully seated following our Annual General Meeting. However, we welcome expressions of interest from community members who wish to be considered for future openings.

DEANNA
HORN

Deanna comes from a five generation Langley Family; she believes in volunteering her time in her community. Deanna is a successful Real Estate Agent and has many community connections both at the local level and government. Deanna has an extensive background and experience in fundraising for major campaigns, strategic planning and board development and marketing skills.

Crump

Paul is a past chair who joined Meals on Wheels in 2008. He has worked for 43 years in the financial industry; the last 33 years with one of Canada's largest Credit Unions. He serves on the board because of his passion and desire to make a difference within the Langley community.

McGuinNESS

Larry McGuinness brings a wealth of experience in community service and leadership to the Langley Meals on Wheels board. With a strong background in finance and business, Larry is dedicated to supporting organizations that create meaningful impact for seniors and vulnerable populations. His thoughtful approach and commitment to governance help guide the strategic direction of the organization. Larry is passionate about ensuring everyone in our community has access to nutritious food and the support they need to thrive.

Valerie mackey

Val has had a lengthy career in senior leadership roles in the financial services industry, providing leadership in the management and execution of human resources; marketing and communications; community involvement; and mergers and integration while ensuring activities strategically align to corporate objectives.

She has a real passion for collaboration, building relationships and giving back to our communities. Over the years she has been actively involved in many community and charitable organizations. To name a few CIBC Run for the Cure; Surrey Food Bank; BC Children’s Hospital Foundation to which she served as Chair for the Credit Union Committee; United Way serving as a member of the Campaign Cabinet; and is currently delivering meals for Langley Meals on Wheels and building relationships with clients.

DORNAN

Bev is a long time Langley resident, retired department manager of Otter Co-op, and a single mother of two grown sons, Chris and James. She has a long history of volunteering in the community. Currently Bev is a member of Aldergrove Rotary Club and Board member of Otter Co-op and Chair of Governance at LMOW. Bev is the past chair of LCSS and past District Governor of Rotary Dist. 5050. In the past she has been chair of the Langley Hospital Foundation, president of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce, chair of Aldergrove Credit Union Board, and member of the Gulf and Fraser Credit Union Board of Directors. She also served two terms as a Langley Township Councillor.

Bohgan

With 18 years of experience in the banking industry, Belinda has established a reputation as a dedicated people leader who prioritizes both team development and community impact. Throughout her career, she has not only driven success within her teams but has also been recognized with a community leadership award for her commitment to giving back. Passionate about supporting others and making a positive difference, Belinda brings a blend of expertise, empathy, and leadership to every endeavor.

Manjit
Gill

Over the past 25 years, Manjit has been an active member of various committees, charities, and boards in Langley and the Lower Mainland. She has volunteered with Fraser Funeral Homes, Canadian Cancer Society, PICS, Langley Meals on Wheels, Fort Langley Museum, Township of Langley Heritage, Burnaby Multicultural, and Rotary Clubs (Langley and Newton). Manjit received the Paul Harris Award twice from the Rotary Club Newton, was named Langley's HD Stafford Citizen of the Year in 2021, and received the John and Muriel Aranson Award in 2022 from the Township of Langley and is a two-time recipient of the Queen's Jubilee Diamond and Platinum Awards.

Bonnie Angelini

Bonnie Angelini is a dedicated Branch Manager at Beem Credit Union, bringing over 35 years of experience in the credit union system. A proud mother of four and Nonna of three. Bonnie combines her deep professional expertise with a genuine passion for people and community. She believes in the power of credit unions to make a positive difference, and she actively engages in supporting local initiatives and building strong connections wherever she can.

Outside of work, Bonnie treasures time with her family, whether that’s travelling together, creating memories with her grandchildren, or baking beautiful cakes for the people she loves. Her blend of professional excellence, community commitment, and family values makes her a leader who truly understands the importance of connection, care, and trust.

Lynette faye

Lynette is a seasoned sales professional and the owner of KIS Consulting, a Langley-based sales and marketing agency that has proudly served the community for over 20 years. Through my work, I have had the privilege of supporting local businesses while also giving back—KIS has sponsored numerous community events and charities, reflecting my strong commitment to making a difference close to home.

Married with one child and two wonderful dogs, I believe deeply that no one in our community should go hungry. The mission of Langley Meals on Wheels resonates strongly with me, and I am eager to contribute my skills in sales and marketing, event planning, strategic vision, and customer service to further its impact.
